Algebra Equation Software
 

I am new to linux so sorry if a lame question.

I remeber somewhere on a distro there was a peice of software like Open Offices Word, That allowed you to create Algebra equation on a blank peice of paper.

Now I don't know where I saw it and on what Distro but if anyone know of it, or knows where I can get something that does this for me I would be greatful.

Look, for example, at texmacs, of just use the Open Office "Math" package.

I think that there might be some texmacs extensions for solving algebraic equations, but I've not too sure about that point. I do know that there's an R extensions that lets you embed "active" R scripts in texmacs documents, which can be handy at times. (F.Y.I.: R is a data processing / statistical analysis language, based on the AT&T developed langauge, S. R is available from CRAN in France.)

Lyx and Scribus are document processing packages used for setting up text, as in books, articles for professionsl journals, etc. They have math tools for printing formulae so that they look just like the textbook. You may need to download and install Esstix fonts package (math fonts).
