Code:
cdrecord -scanbus
This will give you some values to fill in down here
Code:
cdrecord dev=[BUS, ID, LUN] -data image.iso
Of course, it been a while since I've done that, so correct me if I'm wrong.

In Nero's wizard, choose to create Other CD format, not create data cd. Then you choose create a cd from an image file. Then browse to the iso you want to burn and choose it. That's how you burn an iso image in Nero. It will create all the folders and files for you on the cd.

ok second problem for no reason i dont have that window left so im stuck with "New Compilation" window with info multisession ISO label etc and i can choose only from CD-ROM[ISO] CD-EXTRA CD-ROM[boot] CD-ROM[hybrid] CD-ROM[UDF] and CD-ROM[UDF/ISO] also forgot to mention i only have 3 cds that gives me 3 chances to test knoppix nor taking the risk and burning fedora with the 3 survivers

cancel the wizards so that only the program window is open. go to your menus at the top of the window, choose file>burn image, when the file manager box pops up navigate to the iso, choose it, you should now be able to burn the iso. chill a bit.
good luck.

Just choose wizard from the menu. The wizard is what offers the choice of three options, one of them is Other CD format.

It is easy enough to burn an ISO image from the new compilation screen as well. Just follow the directions below:

For the latest version of Nero (Nero 6 Ultra Edition, and most likely even some older versions), if you open up Nero Burning ROM you will be greeted with a screen (titled "New Compilation") that asks what kind of disk you would like to create. If that screen does not appear automatically then just click on the "Creates a new compilation" button.
Now on the bottom right hand corner of that screen just press the "Open" button. Make sure that where it says "File of types" is equal to "Image Files" and then simply browse for the .iso image you wish to burn and double click it, now BURN!

Hope that helps!

Have Fun!!!

Warning: This advice comes from a noob too !

I had the same problem you have now.

First I needed to understand a couple things that nobody explained to me before; What in hell exaclty is an ISO image !!! (yeah .. retarded many of you might say.)

Copying files to a CD is like a transcrip... an ISO in the other hand is like a photocopy of the CD.

So in order to burn the image you need special software that knows how to 'print' these photocopies to a CD.

I tried Nero (trial version) and I could not burn a ISO image to save my life (I think that was a deactivated option in the trial version)

So I got me this little software, which is very easy to use:
