After reboot ps/2 mouse won't work

Hi,

I have Suse linux 8.0 and windows98 on my pc, my ps/2 mouse was working fine but all of a sudden the mouse wont move work at the login promt for linux or in the xwindows, i have checked the modules in yast but the mouse just wont work. In MSWindows the mouse works fine ?

I have try'd reinstalling linux. The mouse worked fine during the installation it was even working after the installation but after i had switched the pc off and put it back on the next day the mouse would not work again !!!

oh this happend shortly after i installed my new usb printer in windows. The printer is connected to a usb hub caus i have another usb device for a digicam. I could not get the printer working under linux ? The printer model is Lexmark z43. The main problem is the mouse !

Can anyone help ?

THX

That's odd. You should be able to get it back to work in X by doing vi /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, normally.

If you're interested, take a look at mine:

--
Section "InputDevice"

# Identifier and driver

Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Emulate3Buttons"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

EndSection
--

As for printer, you know Linux has evolved so much that my USB printer is working like a champ. The trick is to connect it to a USB port on the mobo or PCI card. No hub.

Hey jetblackz,

Ive already try'd the IMPS/2 protocol ?! really strange ive really tried alot of stuff but it doesnt help....

oh i fixed the printer over the hub under http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/usb80.html

Ok here is the pointer section from path /etc/X11/XF86Config
version 4.3

Section "InputDevice"
Driver "mouse"
Identifier "Mouse[1]"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on"
Option "Name" "AutoDetected"
Option "Protocol" "ps/2"
Option "Vendor" "AutoDetected"
EndSection

I have just finished reinstalled linux and everthing seems to be working fine. But for how long... im going to reboot let see if the mouse will still work ?
