After Fedora Update System will not start

Hi,

As a new user of Linux, I just installed Fedora 9 on my system (dual boot), I allowed an automated security update and the GRUB booter now shows 3 options:

Fedora (2.6.25.14-108.fc9-i686)
Fedora (2.6.25-14.fc9.i686)
Other

For some reason, I am unable to start the system, it appears to want to work when I click see details while loading it just hangs up and never loads the default desktop, I don't know if it is a Hard Drive issue (it is new) or something with the security update that I allowed, any ideas please?

The problem is the same on either of the 2 Fedora booting options.

Thanks.

you should still be able to boot from the old kernel click on " Fedora (2.6.25-14.fc9.i686)"
and hit " enter " . Then wait 2 or 3 days for the 3d driver to show up at lvina( if installed)

odd , did you hit any button at all during start up .Doing that Will bring up that menu .
also the 2( two) fedora's listed means that there was a kernel update ,and is normal .
it looks like you DID NOT UPDATE your graphics driver for the new kernel .
Did you install the lvina repo so you can install the nvidia or ati driver for your 3d card ?
see this how to
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f9.html
and for the nvidia driver
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...f9.html#nvidia
for a ATI see
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=189227
-----------------------------
as to booting when you see the 3 listed , as in your first post .
---------- is this what you are doing ? --------------
click on
"Fedora (2.6.25.14-108.fc9-i686)" and hit " enter "
-------------------- if so and no boot ------------------
then try this click on "Fedora (2.6.25.14-108.fc9-i686)"
and press "e" to edit your grub.conf
find the line with "Fedora (2.6.25.14-108.fc9-i686)" and highlightthe line and hit " e " again. In it and at the end will be this
"rhgb"
delete the 4 letters and replace it with a 3 ( number 3) then hit " b" to boot
this will boot you into TEXT only
then do the how to's to install the driver or boot into the old kernel and install the driver.

It worked Thanks

Hi John,

I went ahead and booted from Fedora (2.6.25-14.fc9.i686) and it seems to work fine for now, while I work on the drivers.

Thanks
