Advice about Live Distros
 

Hello:

I wanted to try out a couple of live distros on my current PC which has a 15GB HDD, so there isnt much space since Windoze and other files take up most of that space...

I know that Lindows is a live / bootable from a disk distro. Can anyone recommend some other live distros for a newbie like me?

Slackware Live CD

Knoppix GNU/Linux Live CD

Also: Damn Small Linux, which is based on Knoppix but is much smaller and lighter. The Gentoo distro also offers a live CD which is pretty nice too, though it's not really designed for booting a complete functional distro and window manager; might be good for rescue situations and whatnot though.

I like Mandrake Move, you can get a pretty complete system after booting it up.

I recommend that you not install live distros onto your harddrive... why? because they are meant to be Live CD's, not installed distros

one of the major benefits of live cd's is their ability to autodetect hardware extremely well; other than that, they are normally slow and have bloated kernels to serve their function as live cd's, not hdd distros (catch my drift?)

other distros have great autodetection: mandrake, and redhat off the top of my head
