ADSL connection keeps dropping

Hello experts

My system is running perfectly - wow, must be something wrong there he he - apart from one thing:

I have ADSL, Mandrake 9.1 and have installed the "Guarddog" firewall. The firewall works great, but i am wondering if it is somehow stopping my ISP from keeping my connection alive. After a time when i am not using my PC, the connection drops and i have to login again. I have configured the firewall to allow DNS and of course the usual HTTP etc protocols.

Is there another protocol i have to allow so as my ISP can keep my connection alive ?

I have set my mail (KMail) to retrieve my mail every 30 minutes, but that dosnt seem to solve the problem. I read somewhere that this might help as it sends a request to my ISP and helps to keep the connection open - but as i said, it dont seem to work.

Peace
UKMan

To confirm whether Guarddog is the culprit, you might wanna try connecting without activating it.

Give it a whirl for a few hours to see whether your connection drops.
