um anyone got an easy way of installing adsl [with PPPoE] or activating adsl on mandrake 9.1?

are you using ppoe? if you are, use the roaring penguin package. It works like a charm. http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe/
Pretty much all the info you'll need is on the site, or in the docs they provide.

nope. you'll connect over the command line. after you complete the install, run sbin/ifup ppp0 as root.
