adding more space to / partition

I am planning on installing linux mint as dual boot. I'm going to make a / partition, /home partition, and swap. I heard that linux doesn't really bloat with software and I plan on making the / partition 10 gigabytes and that might even seem too much. But just in case, can I extend the / partition for more space?

Anybody can confirm this?

ugghh. After searching, I realized that / partition is considered the root partition. If it helps, I am referring to adding space to the root partition...

You had better learn some patience. We are not here for your bidding, we merely offer help in our free time.

Linux isn't bloated, what you and the distro developers decide to include determines disk usage. Based on a Mint system I have, you'd better double your initial estimate.
Yes, you can increase the root - best done from a liveCD.
