Adding items to kmenu in Fedora Core 2

I'm trying to add things to my kmenu in Fedora Core 2. Not even folders, just simple things like vi or a terminal. I can open the menu editor and add them fine, but once I close the editor and look at kmenu they don't show up.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

make sure you click "save"

Yup, saved my changes, still no joy.

I can even go to the Control Center->Regional & Accessibility->KHotKeys, and I see my new entries there with the hotkeys I want under "Menu Editor Entries", but the hotkeys don't work and the items don't show up in the kmenu. I still have to either use the mouse or type four extra keystrokes to get vi.

do you log out after the changes to the menu?

Yes, done that, still with no results.

try doing it as root. a lot of people have weird problems like this where root user functions better than regular user. perhaps theres a corrupt file under your /home/user directory thats causing a problem, but first check to see if root can change the menu.
