Adding icons to menu Help

Hi everyone I am a newbie to linux, but been around the site and reading threads for a while. I have 3 question if someone would kindly answer for me. I installed firefox 0.8 and made and icon on the desktop. when I try to run firefox more then once it gives me an error saying that it is already being used.It does the same thing with netscape 7.1. How would I be able to run firefox more then once on the system? Also how would I be able to put it in the meanu? Lastly I try to change my video setting to 1280 x 1024 or to get more desktop, I reboot the system as the system told me, but when I log back in the setting is still at 800x600? I am running Redhat 9.0 on a I-Buddie XP Model A929. Thank for any help.
