Adding apps on embedded Linux

I'm not exactly a Linux newbie but I have bought a cheap Chinese Ebook E-reader which I believe runs on embedded Linux, of which I have no experience. It has a reasonable music player but I want to turn it into a convincing looking Jukebox, but I don't know where to start.

Limited information available -
E-book
8gb storage plus sd card reader, mini usb port,DC power socket, headphone socket. Touch sensitive screen.
Manufacturer - Rockchip
RK2729 SDK
Major version 0.0.2

Anyone any suggestions as to if this is possible and where to start? Many thanks.

If it is eprom or similar, you'll need to do the hardware dance.
Does your reader have some way to do flash updates? My reader has an SD-card slot that gets read at power on. If that card has the right parts, my reader boots and runs whatever is there. Your reader might do something similar. Some have a way to such on the network or data cable for software updates.

Good luck,
