Adding a user to the DIP group or easy way to get online through dial-up?

I'm on Ubuntu 5.10.

How do I add myself, the main user, to the DIP group so that I don't have to type:

Code:

sudo pon
in order to get online through dial-up?

Or, isn't there some easy graphical tool to get online in GNOME for 56kers?

I have a USR External Sportster 56K x2 modem.

Since its x2 and not 56Kflex, I can actually only connect at 28.8.
