[CLOSED] add users to new group, non-GUI


I have setup a new group, how do I add users to it? I do not have X windows, only command line. thx.

Take a look at usermod. It does what you are wanting to do. Otherwise you can look at hacking some files in /etc, which wouldn't be pretty at all.

or just simply type
adduser
and in the questioning you can specify the group the user is to be part of

lol. Thx. This is the command I have executed:

usermod -g frontforth john

Will this add the user 'john' to the group 'frontforth?' How can I check the group to see who is a member?
