Active Window Fading when Mouse leaves it

Hi there! I came across this site when I was searching Goggle to try to find an answer to my question. Finding none, I figured I'll ask you :)

I have been playing around with Ubuntu 10.10 for a few days. I had the functionality of when my mouse left the active window it would fade and any window behind it I moused over would come into focus. I liked this feature, but I broke it somehow. I was playing around with Compiz and all its cool animations, cube transitions, and other stuff. I am not sure if I did something in Compiz to break it or if that is unrelated.

I hope that you can understand my question. Thanks for your time and help!

Sounds like you want to enable cursor focus, where whatever your mouse cursor is over becomes the active window. Are you trying to do this in GNOME, or when using Compiz?

In GNOME, it should be under "Windows" in "Preferences", but I am not sure about the Compiz configuration.

Thanks for the reply! I found what I was looking for with a little more digging. It is the Opacify setting under Compiz. I find it to be quite useful when trying to copy text or switch windows quickly.
