Activate tv-out in SUSE

Hello!

Is it difficult/possible to activate the use of a TV-out in SUSE? Or in any other distribution?
I tried to google around on the subject but got no really clean answers.

I am currently running openSUSE 10.2, and my graphics card is an nVidia Geforce4.

Also, is SUSE less suited for this task than any other linux flavor?

Yes and no, SuSE is capable but less suited than something like KnoppMyth for TV-Out. There are also many How-TO's available for using Fedora or Ubuntu for doing things like MythTV. Although you don't have to go full blown MythTV, it does help to read those tutorials to understand a bit about using TV-Out.

All of that said, any distro should be able to (rather easily) allow you to do TV-Out by just tweaking the xorg.conf file. You will need to use the Nvidia proprietary binary driver, and add a few lines that are similar to this:
Code:
Option "TwinView" "True"
Driver "nvidia"
If you read through the README associated with the nvidia driver you install it will give you more info about enabling the TV-Out on your card.

HTH

Cool

No, feel free to play with it. I was just suggesting the various How-TOs because most of them discuss setting up TVOut.

Good luck!

Cool
