(acroread:6693): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:


Hi all ,

I am getting error ((acroread:6693): Gtk-WARNING **:cannot open display when i use crontab for opening acroread
below is the command that i used for opening acroread
--------------------------------------------------------------------
@reboot /opt/program/Adobe_9/Adobe/Reader9/bin/acroread ~/PCI_Express_Test_Spec_Link_Layer_1.0.pdf

--------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my first post so if any mistake done by me let me know .

You cannot use cron to open a GUI program. This is something you need to do from your user account, after logging into the GUI environment.

This doesn't mean you cannot automatically start a program that runs on your desktop -- it means you have to do it in a particular way.

Hi ,

Can you suggest how can i open GUI program using crontab or by other way at startup of my machine ? The main intention is to automatically do everyday job .
