acpid smbfs shutdown error on SuSE 9.0

My SuSE 9.0 box won't shut down correctly, though it will reboot correctly. The details display says:

System will be halted immediately
Master Resource Control: runlevel 0 has been reached (white text for "reached")
Skipped services in runlevel 0 acpid smbfs (yellow text)

I tried doing "modprobe apm" but I got a modprobe not found error even though the man page exists. Suggestions?
