ACPI or APIC problem in installation of linux
 

Sir,

I am trying to install linux mint on my hard drive. getting message to intall with linux noapic at boot prompt. can you please guide me what is ACPI or APIC. when i disable apic support in BIOS, after reboot my windows will not work. when i enable apic support, and when i reboot my linux will not boot. please help me in this regard.

rather than disable it in BIOS, boot from your install CD. it should pause at the boot: prompt. then type noapic nolapic and press enter

boot: noapic nolapic

The rest of the install should be normal..
