Acer AO722 or Asus EeePC 1215B best for Linux?

This is my first post to this forum. I'm a software engineer who works a lot with "big-iron" Linux servers in corporate data centers. I've never actually installed it on a desktop or laptop system before.

I am shopping for a netbook to take on a trip to Europe. I prefer the 11.6" screen size because the 10.1" machines I have seen are too small for me to type on. The two machines I'm most interested in are the ASUS Eee PC 1215B and the Acer Aspire One 722. They both come with Windows 7, but I'm not a Windows fan.

Which of these machines is easier to get Linux running on, and what version of Linux would be best? Any light people can shed would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi Random and Welcome to LQ!
Have you tried Linux on Laptops? http://www.linux-laptop.net/. I haven't looked but they may have useful opinions about the netbooks you mentions.
Good hunting. :)

Thanks JDK.

I did take a look, but did not find either specific model there. Some possibly-related models are there, but I need to do more research to understand the "family relationships" between machines in the Acer and ASUS product lines.

I think both the models I mentioned are rather new and so perhaps there is less experience with them "out there".
