accidentally deleted the swap : linux won't start

I have a dual boot system - vista & fedora.
I was cleaning my hard disk drive, using a partition manager for windows.
I moved the swap partition without much thinking about the consequences - and now I can't boot into fedora. It gives the following error :-
mount: error mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3 No such file or directory.

How to resolve the issue ? plz help me out.

As root, run fdisk -l to determine the partition number of your swap partition.

Then,
1) boot a liveCD.
2) mount the Fedora partition.
3) edit /etc/fstab to show the correct partition number for swap.
4) reboot without the liveCD.

If swap in indeed the cause of the problem, that should solve the problem.

Bad idea - you get much more flexibilty using open-source tools.

I take it back - you'd probably get this regardless ...

I'd say your root partition has changed designation - you should be able to fix it from a liveCD (change the root=... on the kernel line of the boot-loader), or from command mode in the grub menu.

thanks a lot for the response....
I checked the /etc/fstab entries against the fdisk -l, and found all in order.
But I still get the same error!
can you suggest something else

Just wanted more info on your fix. Did you just set the boot flag to your boot partition?
