Accidentally Deleted Start Menu and Panel

I'm running Linux Mint, and I accidentally deleted the entire panel at the bottom of the screen. The start menu, the clock, and everything in between are gone.

I can open the terminal by right-clicking on the background, or I can click Computer and look through all the files on the system. But I can't find a way to resuscitate my start menu/clock/minimized applications panel.

Can anyone help? Thanks

You can only delete a panel if you have other panels in the system. When you have only 1 panel the delete option is disabled. So I assume that your system is not completely panelless - and now all you have left to do is to recreate what you had in the previous panel by adding items to the panel you still have. Right-click the panel and choose "Add to panel..." and then add the mint menu, window list applet, clock and volume control etc' one by one the way you like... You can also right-click the panel and choose properties to change it to be the bottom panel again.

Oh wow, whoops. Yea I had another blank panel at the top of the screen that I didn't notice. I moved it to the bottom and I'm adding the menu etc right now.

Thanks a bunch

Also Unfortunate!

I'm new to the Linux world - I deleted the menu and the bottom panel while playing around with Compiz to try and make it work. They are nowhere to be seen, which frankly scares me. A lot. No little extra panel to be seen, at least not recognizable to me. All I can see are the three icons Computer, home and the hard drive icon.
I would be very grateful if you could lend me a hand to retrieve the menu and the bottom panel.
It all occured whil I tried out an icon in the Compiz complex, Compiz Fusion Icon (I believe it was called) at the panel. Instead of Compiz I tried MetaCity (I believe) and whoops... a deep void. The horror.
If you have any tips I would be most grateful!
Best regards, A.

Argonautilus, did you notice you posted to a three-year old thread? (I've done that myself, so I understand.)

I suggest you ask a moderator to move your post into its own thread so it gets better visibility. You can do this with the "Report" button at the bottom of the post; it's one of the choices.

In addition, you might edit your post to specify what distro/version (the icon says Ubuntu) and which desktop environment you are using, as that will have a bearing on the possible solutions.

If I had an idea for the solution, I'd pass it on, but I don't so I can't.
