Accessing XP workstations with smbclient

There's something that's been bugging me for awhile, but I never really needed it until today.

With every distrubution of Linux I've used (Fedora, SuSe, Mandrake, Knoppix) I've always been able to access Windows 2000 or 2003 shares easily with smbclient. Never had a single problem getting connected.

But, with every distribution I've used, I've not once ever been able to successfully connect to a Windows XP workstation share using the same machine. I've tried this with multiple linux machines, and with multiple XP machines on multiple networks, but the result is always identical. I can access shares with smbclient on Server OS's, but I can't access shares on XP workstation OS's.

Am I missing something, or is there something different that has to be done to use smbclient with XP?

Ok, I figured this out. I was signed onto the linux machine with a user that has the same name/password as my windows domain account. When I was accessing the server, it recognized the authentication. When I was accessing the XP workstation, it was rejecting b/c the workstation was logged on with my domain account, but that same workstation doesn't contain a local account that matches. I used the -U parameter with smbclient and gave a local account on the XP machine for the username, and it works fine.
