Unhappy Access WIndows XP files from Linux

I have several Windows XP PCs and last year I set up a Linux system. On the Linux system, I want to be able to access my Windows XP files over the network. With Windows Explorer, the windows XP system displays my Linux computer. On the Linux system, I can see all of my Windows XP computers. Earlier this morning I was able to copy a few files from one of the XP systems to my Linux system. But when I tried again this afternoon, all I get is "The folder contents could not be displayed." Does Microsoft have some one-time flag that won't let Linux access its files? Is there something I am missing? Thanks for any help.

Distribution: Switched to regualr Ubuntu, because I don't like KDE4, at all. Looks like vista on crack.....

The program you are most likely using to access those drives is samba. There are a few gui's available to help you manage those drives. Here is a link that describes a few of them.

If you want to go old school and do it all on the command line, this page will help....

Good luck, let us know how it worked out.....

Thanks. I am using Samba. I will check out that sight.

But this morning, without changing anything, I am able to see and copy files to my Linux system.
