Access to Ftp server

Hi
I'm relatively new to linux so please bare with me.
I'm running Debian 3.1 and have installed proftpd and the webmin module for it. I have no problems access the ftp server through the local IP (10.0.0.3) address, but how can i access the ftp server from a computer not on my network? Any help appreciated.

you need to setup your firewall to redirect incomming trafic on port 21 to your ftp server

Thanks for that, but I don't really know where to put this into my router config.

its a safecom samr4115 and a demo version of the login that i get when i loggin is available here

thanks v much

It looks like you have to put it under "Virtual Server".

Thanks, but i've forwarded port 21 to 10.0.0.3 (which i can connect to through ftp) and saved settings and rebooted the router but it says failed to conenct to the ftp server. Could there be a setting (demo of router cp link above) on somewhere that should be? Also it the router itself has an ftp function - if i turn this off will this affect anything?

Also should ports be udp or tcp and do the private ports beginning and end and public port all have to be the same?

Thanks v much for any help :)
