yum -y install kmod-ntfs


i tried this but its not working


Metadata file does not match checksum


ftp://fedora.mirrors.tds.net/pub/fed...rimary.xml.gz: [Errno 4] IOError: [Errno ftp error] timed out

Trying other mirror.

I'm not a Fedora user, so can't help you with yum. There's something else you can try: download an RPM from here and install that.

Edit: distro is short for distribution.

I have downloaded the proper rpm following the instructions i sorted out i needed
2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 i686 smp

i downloaded the module but it is not working

or may be i am not able to install it
kernel-module-ntfs-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp-2.1.26-0.rr.10.0.i686

this is the module i have downloaded how to install it

Read the RPM man page (run "man rpm") and that should tell you how to install RPMs. You'll probably need to load the module before trying to use it - it's probably something like "modprobe ntfs".

thi is what i used but i m confused what to do with the package name

now i just clicked the module and it says installed succesfully now what to do next

Again, possibly "modprobe ntfs".

Possibly means you've installed the wrong RPM. The help section on linux-ntfs.org isn't very helpful to be honest :/. Maybe search on LQ for this problem, as it's probably happened to others.

[root@localhost ~]# rpm -q --queryformat "%{ARCH}\n" kernel-smp
i686
this is what i got and downloaded this

kernel-module-ntfs-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp-2.1.26-0.rr.10.0.i686

Don't know. Did you search LQ? There's a forum on linux-ntfs.org, so maybe ask there as well.

thanks fro ur help
I have finally mounted with ur help actually i was installing it through desktop then i put that rpm into root directory and installed following the instructions it worked
