Accent marks
A while ago I read a tutorial on accent marks in linux. I'm using gnome with debian and I changed the keyboard layout from "U.S. English" to "U.S. English w/ dead keys", this made it so I was able to press ' and then a letter and it would place an accent mark over the letter. After I finished needing the accent marks I switched back to US English. Since then I've used the dead keys a few more times. But for no reason apparent to me, now when I switch to "U.S. English w/ dead keys", I don't have the ability to make accent marks. There is no difference between with dead keys and without. Its very frustrating because many times I need to make accent marks, I haven't been doing anything different that I know of and it doesnt work to make accents anymore. I do, just like I did before, ' + a letter and now I just get ' followed by the letter rather than the accent mark. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?
