Abundant use of Xkill
Here's what I did, any suggestions as to how to correct this "mistake" in the future will be gladly considered. Being new to Linux (mandrake bamboo 9.1, running KDE window manager)
I used "xkill" to terminate a window that had stopped responding. in the process, I accidentally terminated my taskbar. Being a former windows user, this made me very uncomfortable, so I CTRL+ALT+DEL my way to a restart......... how do I get the taskbar up and going again without a restart?? Thanks, and all flames will be humbly accepted.....:newbie: |
We don't flame our newbs ;) Welcome to LQ :)
ALT F2 I believe brings up the 'run' dialogue, then type: kicker This should launch that 'taskbar' you are looking for. HTH Cool |
Thanks...... needed that, reading the HOWTOs and MAN pages gets a little long when only looking for a single command

I think something like that is tacked up only to 'experience' as I don't think it's likely in any 'standard' man page :D
