absolutely new... need to find an info source

ok, now that I've gotten my music to work (see my other post), I'd like to find some basic info. Here's background. I know nothing about linux, nothing about the command line. Nothing, really, about computers except music and other common tasks. I am a fighter jet mechanic. As far as I know, no one in a 50 mile radius uses linux, I'm stationed on a US air force base in the middle of the German countryside. Does anyone know a good online guide or something I could print out for people who are totally new? Just basic things, like how to use command line, how to intstall screensavers that come in .tar.gz or .bz2 formats, etc.? To quote an old song, "I'm all alone....". Thanks for being helpful, I will probably be relying on you guys a lot more in the future :P Thanks
