about mounting cdrom

Hi guys! I have some problems about mounting cdrom: I have mandrake 10 and I've donwloaded and compiled kernel 2.6.5 (vanilla) and now I can't mount my cdrom!
when I lanch "mount /mnt/cdrom" the response is "mount: fs type iso9660 not supported by kernel".

after "modprobe isofs" : FATAL: Error inserting isofs (/lib/modules/2.6.5/kernel/fs/isofs/isofs.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

after "dmesg | grep isofs": isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflate
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflate_workspacesize
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflateInit_
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflateEnd
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflate
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflate_workspacesize
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflateInit_
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflateEnd
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflate
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflate_workspacesize
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflateInit_
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflateEnd
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflate
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflate_workspacesize
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflateInit_
isofs: Unknown symbol zlib_inflateEnd

any ideas?
thx very much in advance!

As far as I know, much of the names for stuff like filesystems were changed with 2.6.x, so you'll have to check out the new terminology somewhere.

You can also use the tool "mkinitrd" to convert your old fstab to the new one. If you have that tool installed, use:
generate-modprobe.conf | tee /etc/modprobe.conf

Then restart. Works under SuSE9.0, dunno about other distros.
