Hello friends,
Please can anybody tell me the differences when installing Oracle on Linux and on windows?
What are Linux specificities?

Regards.

Mikha.

Welcome to LQ!

What Oracle product are you referring to?

Mikha008 02-16-2016 09:05 AM

Oracle database 11g

The Oracle website is pretty clear about all the requirements for both environments. Is there something specific you are after?

CentOS is the usual non-RH environment.

In addition you are following different directions...

I doubt that you even tried to search, however Oracle puts out a Quick Install Guide and an Install Guide for 11gr2. That is a great place to start to figure out the differences between installing on Windows Vs Linux.

I ran Oracle Linux in a VM only for a few months, just hopping around. Isn't it for enterprise like RHEL?

In the directions, they will break down to do different things based on the Distro (RHEL, SuSE, Arch).

OP could always refine the "question?"

Yes, or just add more details.

I haven't seen this link for a while - It doesn't age!

OP could make an attempt to do a search first and try to install Oracle on their choice of Linux. In my case and experience, its been RHEL.

However each flavor of Linux has a few things done differently, however its not that much differences between the flavors.
