Ability Office

Hi there,

I have a problem with ability office. the rpm files load but I cannot find the application files. And being new to linux, I do not know how to uninstall the thing to try from the beginning.

Maybe it is just some simple thing that I am overlooking.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Welcome to Linux & LinuxQuestions!

Did you install the rpm ?
if yes:
usually the name of the program is the name of the command.
i mean, open a terminal and type: ability

Loaded as per the instructions on the website. first the libraries, then created the directory structure for wine then installed the packages. - no luck. and I cannot reload, as it says the program is already installed.

ability yields: command not found
ablity database: command not found

etc.

Maybe I'm just too thick to get it right!

do you mean this:
http://www.ability.com/linux/linuxdlsp.php
is there a particual reason you have to use Ability, i mean there are exellent programs that are linux native, like OpenOffice, Abiword, etc..

This Ability Office seems to use Wine, which is a Windows emulator,
I never used Ability Office, so i donīt know much about it.
Do you have Wine installed?
Try this command: abwrite #maybe it works, who knows?

I need the database option. But looks like I'm going to have to try using MySQL. The person I'm setting it up for knows less than what I do though, so might be a small problem.
