Did you install the ATA drivers? I know they can be problematic, but if you post exactly what you tried and any error messages that resulted, maybe someone who's done so can help you out. Also post the exact error that XFree86 spits at you now. Also, a more descriptive thread title would probably help out in this case.

When I use "sh make.sh" to generate my ATI module I get this error, but I have the latest kernel (2.6.7). What am I doing wrong?

ATI module generator V 2.0
==========================
initializing...
Error:
XFree86 drm includes at /lib/modules/2.6.7-1.494.2.2/build/include/../drivers/char/drm do not fit this driver.
This driver is designed to only work with X4.1.0 or higher.
You can match this by getting Linux kernel 2.4.8 or higher.
[root@localhost build_mod]#

And this is even after I installed X4.4.0.

Yes, I did try to reinstall the ATI Drivers and it said they were allready installed, so I forced the install again and get the same message as the above.

ati-drivers don't seem to work fine with 2.6 kernels.
but i read somewhere on this site , there is some kind of kernel-patch,
made for these drivers.

go to the Slackware-forum, and do a forum-search for '''ati '';
thats how i came there.

I've used the patch and it fails on most of the HUNKs
