a very stupid mail question

Greetings,

Basically I want to send an email from a script. I've been playing with Pine, but a friend directed me towards the plain mail command. Unfortunately, when I try to send the mail to a user outside the domain of my box, I get the dreaded unknown user message.

So my questions are:
- How do I get mail to allow mail to outside users?
- Is there a better way to send mail via scripts?

Thanks

Usually there's no problem to mail to outside users. It depends more on the settings your mail server has. And it depends which mailserver you use, of course (Sendmail is default for Redhat, am I right?).
