a question about Linux based America's army

I am new to linux ( meaning that I have used Linux off and on for a couple of years mostly off though) I was going to download the game Americas army but I stopped because they stopped updating the linux version of the game and have changed it to windows ( even though I am very sure the games servers are Linux based) and well I am wondering if it is possible for someone like me with very little skills in Linux to upgrade the game it self. what I mean is could I update the game kernel ( from 2.5 to 2.8)the same way I would upgrade a Linux Kernel on a Linux OS or is it allot more complicated than that?

it's a lot more complicated than that!

why did they abandon the linux port? are they using directx now instead or opengl?

many games can be built on one game engine (id software sells their enginee, for example) but you can't swap out the engine and install another. to many specific calls to specific functions.

there are many more issues but these are a biggie

I am not sure why they abandoned Linux I sure wished they didn't because I actually liked the game when I did play

i never got passed the training to actually play the game when i used windows :-(

many, many people do like it though. i thought it was a good simulation (training) of what i actually experienced during my basic training (army reserve, combat medic, 1994)
