A newbie book?

Hi all,

What do you think of the book Red Hat Linux 9 Bible as a
book for a newbie to Linux?

I know it comes with the RH9 CDs but is the content worth the
money one pays for it?

i don't see why not...hence the name bible, it comes packed with alot of information about many many topics....but then again there are many many e-books you can just get online, and in turn download your distros cd's of choice.....
one very good book would be the rute users guide ...

"Running Linux" by O'Reilly is pretty good when you're starting out and still a handy reference if you're stuck. It's not specific to a particular distro and it's very readable.

(no, I don't work for O'Reilly)

Most (some?) distributions ship with documentation on the CD's - how-tos from www.tldp.org etc - check /usr/share/doc (s) to see what you've got. If there's nothing there you should be able to install them from CD.
