A newbie book?
Hi all,
What do you think of the book Red Hat Linux 9 Bible as a book for a newbie to Linux? I know it comes with the RH9 CDs but is the content worth the money one pays for it? Jorge |
i don't see why not...hence the name bible, it comes packed with alot of information about many many topics....but then again there are many many e-books you can just get online, and in turn download your distros cd's of choice.....
one very good book would be the rute users guide ... |
"Running Linux" by O'Reilly is pretty good when you're starting out and still a handy reference if you're stuck. It's not specific to a particular distro and it's very readable.
(no, I don't work for O'Reilly) Most (some?) distributions ship with documentation on the CD's - how-tos from www.tldp.org etc - check /usr/share/doc (s) to see what you've got. If there's nothing there you should be able to install them from CD. |
