A New IP being assigned if I connect HTC Touch to Fedora 11?

I have been very surprised to see that a new interface eth2 is provided with IP 169.254.2.2 once I connect my HTC Touch to my Fedora 11 laondaris box running on Dell Laptop.I have not configured networking in my HTC. Whenever I want to browse Internet, I connect through Windows Active Sync but this was first time I connected to fedora Machine.
Can anyone help me in knowing how that got displayed and what other stuff I can perform on my HTC <==> Fedora.

What I did is tried out to find what ports are open in my mobile.

Code:
[ajeet@localhost ~]$ nmap -vv 169.254.2.2

Starting Nmap 5.00 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2010-03-21 10:09 IST

HTC touch has an ethernet card, so when you are connecting the device to the system its detecting it automatically. Your system may be configures to receive ip from dhcp which is not working for some reason.
When an network interface tries to fetch ip from dhcp and fails, an ip will be automatically assigned to the interface which is called APIPA, the range of ip is: 169.254.0.0 - 169.254.255.255
Any ip from this range will be assigned automatically by the system.
