A Long time away......
 
A quick hello to all,

Noob alert!...

Having cut my teeth on Sco Unix and Xenix in the deep and distant past and vowed never to return to the minefields of the unix world, I have finaly succumbed, 30 years later, to returned to the fold. I have just loaded up a copy of debian vanilla and after spending 5 days hacking my way through the installation just to get it to load up properly I have a very strong sense of Déjà vu coming over me.... ;-)

I have loads of questions but that will be for another time..

Well you chose a good distro, this is always a good start :)

Thanks for your comments guys.

For those others reading this that are either new to linux or are returning and wish to get a closer look at whats under the hood so to speak, but with out tying your self to any particular distro, I highly recommend a free PDF called 'Linux from scratch' by Gerard Beekmans.
