a little help????


Ive been using Linspire for a while and i want to switch back to Windows 98. But when i reinstall windows with my restore disk it goes something like this L 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 ...any ideas?

you need to reinstall the windows mbr, what you're seeing is a shafted lilo install. (i.e. lilo in the mbr but no lilo.conf)

fixmbr or fdisk /m should do it.

so how do i fix it...i mean its not like i can go into MS Dos and do it because it wont let me. after that happens the only way to get everything back up is to reinstall Linspire

0x80 means Disk timeout.

Try running the following:
fdisk /mbr

So, you do not have any boot floppy disks?

you can use that to get a to prompt can't you?

failing that, UBCD has it's own boot managers you can use to boot to win98 where you can fix it from there.

or bootdisk.com or whatever
