A Lilltle Question
 
hi guys,
i want to know one thing. : can there be an access point without internet connectivity on that access point?
if so, then how to do i check the access points to see if they have internet connection.

please help me.

thats two questions!

I don't think you can tell without having a connection to the access point and even then if your not the admin they could be using squid to mess with your head.

Yes there can be a AP without connectivity.

You can access the AP via a web address as the administrator. You can use a browser and enter the IP address of the AP. If the Admin has been passworded then you must have the password to gain access to the configuration pages.

the reason why i asked these questions are that, there are 4 APs in my area that i receive with my laptop. though encryption says open, when i capture packets from them with airodump-ng i get 4-5 ivs from them.

one time i was able to connect to one but couldn't access the internet that's why i'm asking.

Maybe you need to ask the router for an ip address? man dhclient
