A.I.'s chat-bots, agents ?
 

Hi, I have the newest release of Ubuntu on my laptop, but I am a newbie for sure.
I am trying to break the 'windows' habit, The only item I miss that I cannot seem to find any information on is some form of 'Super Hal' or other A.I. voice recognition software ?
I read that ALICE is platform independent, I assume that means it 'can run' on Ubuntu ?
I have seen 'free downloads' for ALICE but they do not come with 'Newbie Instructions' ?
Is there any way to get it through my Ubuntu library ?

Newbie/command line ?
 

Hi Josh,
I am completely lost on the terminal command line part, guess some windows users can also use command line, the only training I have with both windows and Linux has been to use them. So far whenever I have a serious OS problem, I wipe the disk and re-install the OS, may not be the correct method but it does work.
Back to A.L.I.C.E. It sounds like I "must learn more" about using command line functions 'before' I can use the Alice program.
I purchased online a few years back a book on linux but never got around to reading it. 'Point & Click Linux' by Robin Miller.
Have you heard of it ?
I did have someone hold my hand and walk me through some command line stuff before, put this here, write this there, and it did work...
But I had no idea why we did what we did. So I find myself needing someone to walk me through a more complex install again ?
Perhaps I should bite the bullet, sit down read the darn book do it myself then I can give some advise.

I was also about to strongly recommend that site.

And unlike Windows, where the command line is limited and a relic of the past that everyone tries to avoid, in Linux the command line is very powerful and some users choose to use it as much (or even more) than the GUI.
