a good distro for floppy boot/ftp install

I'm about to install linux on an (very) old laptop that has no CDROM. What disto would you use if you had to do a floppy boot and then install linux over the network (http or ftp). It has to be a rather small distro cuz my HD is only 300Mb.

thanx

Personally, I'd use Debian. You should be able to do a base install over the network and then apt-get X and a lightweight window manager (fluxbox, icewm, etc). I think the base install is only 100MB (no gui). There's directions for floppy install on the Debian website.

If you have at least 8MB RAM, take a look at BlueFlops. It gives you a modern kernel, graphical web browser and more on two floppies.

I've used this on an old 486sx-16 laptop with 8MB RAM, and it worked very well.
