A couple questions on postgresql...

I've been using linux for a year and a half and I love it. I want to learn everything that I can about linux for myself and for some marketable job skills. So I decided to experiment with databases in linux. I want to make a database on pc games, mainly old ones.
It is my understanding that postgresql is a database management system, which can be used to make queries on a database as well as manage it. I am currently taking a class about databases using E-R Diagrams. If I wanted to make a database about old games using an E-R Diagram, what software would I use? Something similar to Microsoft Access or Visio but for linux, or is postgresql also capable of not only managing the database but creating a database?

Postgresql IS a database, just like MySQL, Oracle, and Sybase. If you're talking about a GUI database tool, there are many you can use for linux, phpmyadmin being one that's used frequently. Installs easily, and runs through your web browser.

Is postgresql capable of implementing attributes on the relationship, can it do cardinalities, key identifiers, partial identifiers, associative entities?

what about mysql does it have those capabilities? I hear mysql offers better performance, which one is more stable? which one is easier to stick onto a webpage?

Yes, it can do all that, as can pretty much any relational database out there these days. Web page integration is as hard with one as it is another. It depends on what you're trying to do. I personally like MySQL, but I have friends who swear by Oracle, and others who use Informix. Pick one that works best for you, and that you work best WiTH.
