920316 - obtaining a driver for ubuntu from fedora

a linux driver is given for a DVR card just for Fedora 8. i want its driver for Ubuntu 12.04. source of driver is not present. can i write a wrapper to use the present api's in the driver of fedora 8 in ubuntu? it's in assembly language anyway and use ports etc.
we really need a driver for ubuntu for the card.

Might be easier to use ndiswrapper. In some drivers you might be able to decompile it or look into it by some tools. It is very hard to take such old stuff and try to port it to modern kernel or distro.

Fedora 8 is pretty old. Why do you say it is in assembly?

hi
thanks for the reply, so i'm going to get introduced with ndiswrapper. any introductory information is wealthy.
i'm not going to say it's originally written in assembly. better to say, i mean it's in binary anyway. it would be better to say it's in machine code.

in the description of ndisgtk, i see:
graphical frontend for ndiswrapper (installation of Windows WiFi drivers)
i'm talking about a DVR card, not a wireless network adapter!
