920131 - how to install packages offline?
hi
consider an ubuntu 12.04 server which is not connected to the internet is going to be setup. consider all required packages are copied into a directory in the server, but none is installed yet. i need to use apt-get install to install required components and i need ubuntu to refer to the directory for the required packages instead of going online to download them. this is required because the server is offline. how is it possible? |

thanx for reply
i tried it, but it didn't work. although the required packages are existing in the cache directory, ubuntu persists to download them! :( |

Are they special packages requireing dependencies? there is an option in the update manager to install from cd. Or install from source |
