Ubuntu 10.04 slow or dropping out (either using Firefox or standalone program(s) which access internet - like Update Manager, etc...);
NOTE: similar to local Wireless Connection Info is it possible to monitor respective, paired Ubuntu port speed? Situation is local wireless speed showing speeds of: Unknown, 1 Mb/s - 54 Mb/s; however, app's like Update Manager showing respective session transfer speeds of: Disconnected, 2 KB/s - 24 KB/s?

googled topic & much conflicting info on subject.

after many comcast attempts to get me to increase circuit speed and seemingly unexplained general system slow down in both linux and windows environments, I am starting to lean towards one and/or two possible problem areas: one, 64 bit machine & current BIOS somehow not compatible? And/or, two, comcast DHCP circuit is 'some how' throttling back, down my connection? Anyone know how to monitor for, detect such a circumstance?
