56k connection?

I recently helped a friend install RH7 with gnome. She used to use aol (no laughing please) over a 56k line. Question: how would i help her set up a connection with RH and\or gnome? what isp's are available?

any isp will work, check with the local phone company or go with one of the big nationals, earthlink, att worldnet etc. they may say they don't support linux, but that just means phone support, setup help. all you'll need from them is the local dialup number, and the dns addresses. plug them into a dialer (kppp, wvdial, whatever) and off you go.

does gnome come with any dialers? i cant find any.

kppp and wvdial should be on the redhat disks. even though it started as a kde app, kppp will work for any windowmanager, if i recall the config app for wvdial on a redhat box is 'rp3'

okay. I dled kppp.
when i got to the ./config step, i got a error message. i cant get a copy of it (as i am doing this for a friends pc), but what i did exactly was to put the kppp tar.bz2 file in /dls. tarred it. cd (kppp dir), ./config. there a problem with where i put it or something? im pretty lost.

once i get kppp installed, i just get the modem drivers, isp number, dial in, and we should have it, right?
any help would be appreciated.

If your installing a downloaded version you'll have to make sure it's for the version of RH7 your using. Better to use the rpm off the install CD if you have one or search on
http://rpm.pbone.net
for the RH7 version. Used the advanced search

Edit
Yes that should be what you need. If the modem happens to be external it most likely won't need drivers.

my version came on three disks. i am not able to mount anything at all with disk two, and the others do not seem to contain it. but i will search for it at the link. thanks!
