52 CDs iso to install Debian Squeeze amd64 ?!
Eh to the torents to download debian squeeze for a clear non net instalation has 52 CDs!
Whats this joke?? Do i have to burn 52 iso cds?? http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/6.0.5/amd64/bt-cd/ |
No you don't need 52 CDs. CD 1 will give you a basic install with Gnome. Even better DVD 1 will give you a full Gnome install and I think you can even choose KDE, LXDE, XFCE if you'd prefer.
The full CD or DVD set is just if you want every package Debian has available. |
And if you've got a good internet connection, the netinstall CD is OK.

The cdrom's : If you have no DVD burner.
DVD's : If you have no internet connection. But you will never need all 42.500 packages and their source code. And : You don't get updates from DVD's. So it's always a good idea with a netinstall : You get the latest updates at once. A basic install is about 1100 packages. With the usual development tools / libraries : 1400 packages. Listing installed packages ( in a text file ) : 1) dpkg get-selections > installed-packages.txt 2) ls -tl /var/lib/dpkg/info/ | grep list > last-packages.txt . |
I have #G Internet connection with USB Stick
If I clear Install cant make a net instalation. But if i download the DVD1 then once i connect i can update not? So Ill need just DVD1 eh? http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/...amd64/iso-dvd/ |
You can just download and burn CD 1 that is the one with the installation tool once installed you can install more applications using apt-get. Gnome two is the GUI you will have after inatallation.

Hi esgol, your question suggests you haven't yet read the Debian Installation Guide?
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/installmanual |
I recommend to use the first DVD, not the CD. The DVD contains necessary tools to get your mobile network connection to work, the CD does not.
