5.1 On Mplayer, TOTEM, etc?

It seems that the 5.1 sound isn't working... only 2 speakers works, suggestions?

I've changed in the Totems prefrences to 5.1, but no change.

It may not be the player's fault since you set the preferences to 5.1

Check the following:

1) The ALSA modules are working correctly
run alsamixer
and check with "speaker-test -c 6" to see if you get sound from all speakers.

If that works then your sound card works ok

2) Mplayer by default downmixes to 2 channels
all you have to do (if your movie is 5.1 of course) is use "-channels 6" option and it will work.

These are 2 different programs.

First run "alsamixer" to ensure that your channels aren't muted.
If there are not muted then run "speaker-test -c 6" to test your speakers.

I've done the speaker test -c 6 stuff... it looked okay and worked Ithink

In ALSA Surrond, LFE, Srround, was on @ 100% so I don't think the problem is ALSA

check these weird message out anyways
