4.0 GIGS!!! Can they hold????

i believe that if there were a "newbie" prize, id probably win it
that said i was wondering if a linux distribution (College Linux) could "live" in about 1 GIG of hard disk space. the pc im using has only 4 GIGS and my brother installs a lot of games on it so i don't have much space left, 1 GIG to be exact. so whatcha think????

I did a minimal Slack install on an old laptop with 800 MB. You have a bit more space than that, but not much. I stayed away from X, and only installed what I needed to get things running, and it didn't take much before the drive was almost full. There is a lot of bloat that you can live without, especially if it is a secondary machine that you don't rely on for day-to day tasks. In my case it was really just a toy to goof around with, but it turned out to be a nice little box to surf the forums with (using Links of course).

core linux seems like a good try then, very small, only a few programs i dident need (so i took them out, but most will probly need these programs) altho, unless u know or want to learn linux very close go with another choice, it isnt that hard to learntho, it was teh first distro i ever tryed to install, and right now the onyl distro i can say i got working (after 1 failure that was probyl cuse i messed up in kernel compile i reinstalled every program from scratch ) so with a little work it can fit very nicly and easly in some stupid 1gig np
