3d desktop capability detection

Hey all, I've got a bit of a problem with my 3d desktop. That is, I can't run Mettise or Beryl! I used to be able to when I first got Mandriva, however, then my friend disabled my 3D video settings so my computer could play UT2004 smoothly. Only I have absolutely no idea how to restore them! Any help in this manner is highly welcomed!
